The zip code or city in your mailing address is not necessarily the municipality of the home AND will not reflect if it is in unincorporated St Louis County or what municipality the home is in. With almost 25 years as a Realtor I have actually seen some agents confused by this... I find that the best way to know for sure is to check the property tax record which is available on the City or County Website. There, it will list the County and Municipality of the home. I have listed many homes where the homeowner was not even sure themselves as it may have a city in their mailing address which is not the actual municipality OR they think they live in a municipality because they have that zip code, however, they are actually in the unincorporated pocket of the county. In those cases the County will direct or handle occupancy permits and compliance inspections. Also, as we all know, what we think we know today can and will change tomorrow so I always check two ways by calling as well.
